NCDC 2015 & NCDC 2013
« on: 16 December 2009, 09:44:28 »

I have been told if you swap the 'face plate' from a 2015 on to a 2013 you get the full telephone functions.

The 'back box' contains the same bits, the telephone menu function is controlled by the electronics in the face plate only and not by whats behind (obviously actual dialing and calls is of course controlled by the telematics box)

Can anyone confrim if this is correct?

don't think so, to have telephone functions you need the telematics kit in the glovebox

Although the units do indeed share many similar parts between them, I can`t say I`ve ever heard of that conversion

To get the telephone functions on the NCDR/C units you need the telemeatics unit connected and married up.

The NCDR1500/NCDC2015 bezels have slightly different legends over some of the buttons that relate to the phone functions, however the bezel isn't required as part of the enablement.

eg. TP button legend changed to * or # and TP now operated / disabled via a screen prompt and the select knob.

As stated above i know i need telematics unit to make calls.

That is not what i am asking.

I have the telematics, colour screen and 2015.

I'm having issues with CD changer and navigation CD reading on the 2015, i have a 2013 (2 infact - de-paired with codes before anyone asks) and rather than try to swap some specific parts to see if that solves the 2015 issues i was checking if what i had been told was correct as swapping the face over would be the simple quick option.

The face of the 2013 and 2015 are the same apart from the green and red telephone symbols on the 2015 where its just green and red blocks on the 2013, and the On Star button

Looks like the only way i will know is try it

2013 and 2015 are the same unit, but with slightly different legends. Adding a telematics to 2013 changes the functions of some of the buttons.

So swapping the face over on a 2013 with a 2015 (once mated to the telematics etc) will give the correct functions then?

No need to swap the faceplates even, unless you crave the correct legends...
