when to dip?
« on: 14 February 2008, 21:25:38 »

when i was learning to drive in 1977(gawd i am old)i was told to dip my headlights before i could actually see the oncoming cars(i.e. you can see the headlights approaching from around a corner),if you wait until you can see the oncoming car before dipping then your lights will cause a hazard by dazzling the other driver.the thing is no-one seems to do that anymore ,everyone seems to wait until a couple of seconds after they can see your car before they dip their lights .maybe i was taught wrong or maybe the rules have changed? :-/ any opinions on this ?

Your right, its all the other to**ers who are wrong, like when did it become acceptable to drive down the motorway with full beam on and not dip them for oncoming traffic, grrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!  >:(

Colchester hasn't changed much since I was a student there back in 1990 then.

The standard of driving, that is :-X

Was anyone taught to put main beam ON when someone behind wanted to overtake?

How many times have you caught someone up and toyed with overtaking but the car in front goes TO dip!!

Oh, dear. Reminds me of spending an afternoon fitting a set to my mate's Chevette when I was a lad. Just finished them and his Dad came home from work and threw a fit. ;D

HIDs eat your heart out though.
