Hi another request can anyone help with locating a disc to run the onboard sat-nav on 2013 unit, or which one i need as i have seen some on ebay but not sure what i need, any help will be greatly appreciated.

There are a few sites that you can down load sat discs from, off hand you can find them by name in search engine but you will need an iso reader and burner. :y

Do not do this, copied CD's in a 2013/15 will break the laser focusing.

Just go to ebay.de and buy an original new disk from there.

well thats not good, CD format is same if in iso there is a dif setting if you do your on copy with out the iso format from the down load but should not make the lazer do any thing, would get your lazer clean'd.

Sorry rusty .. but that is crap.

The "active" surface of a CD is the underside of the printed film. The plastic disc is just a carrier and a protective shield.

A commercial or "proper" CD is stamp produced .. i.e it is MECHANICALY made, so the lows and highs of the disc that the laser reads actually exist as peaks and troughs in the material, albeit very small.

When you "burn" a CD all you do is to discolour the dye which "simulates" the lows and highes. This "fools" the laser and sends the signals to the processor.

The problem is that the laser half-knows it is being fooled and will spend a finite time working its balls off trying to decide if it is a true signal or a false one before accepting the info.

It does this by changing the focus many times a second.

This simply wears out the laser. End of story.

How do you clean the laser then Rusty and how does that repair a hard fault caused by over stressed focusing circuitry?

I've repaired enough of these units to know what really goes wrong with them so i'll happily send you some duff laser units from both the Nav and CDC3 units for you to clean them and return them with warranty.

For the 2013 I believe you need to look for "navteq NCDR or NCDC"

The uk ebay site has this one listed ..

CD-R's do tend to kill the multi changers more quickly, it has more of an effect in facelift it seems, maybe the Siemens units are not as good as Blankput.

No doubt rusty is suggesting one of those crappy disc cleaners which do more harm than good.

so you are telling me that these systerms us crap class 3 lazers, I have had no problems with 52x or 86x cd backup discs  £4 a disc for proper backups, and if you are using them old discs that use dye i would throw them away and get your self a new burner, i have updated lots of sat nav's with copy disc's and have never had a problem, all class 1 lazers, (class 3 lazers are not used in any country since 1999 same with class 2) only class 1 are used now,) if they read then it will work, copy's need to be in there original ISO fromat not the burner format, as for cleaning best thing for the home user for cleaning a lazer is a cotton bud, I have a lazer brush, another tip is to not keep cd's in the unit for long period of time, and get your self a static disc it removers dust from in side. lazers read processes only process nothing more nothing less.

I updated  my original (version 2003)with a 2007/2008 some time back off ebay the Cd you require is labeled "NAVTECH on board" If your really stuck PM me with  a reasonable offer, and I'll post 2003 Version to you. I understand its only the maps that have been updated.As already been said DO NOT use copied discs of any sort its not worth the risk  :y

Just checked out Entwood's post and thats the correct CD. The case and Cd illustration is the same as my 2007/2008 version. :) :y :y

The Siemens NCDx range, along with *ALL* car stereos from that era (particularly those that use Philips lasers), all suffer premature laser failure if used with CDRs.  The focusing system is driven harder on CDRs, which tends to burn out the focusing coils.

There are plenty of genuine, original map disks on eGay. Think I paid around £20 for my 2009 disk.  For the sake of that, I'd pay the £20 than shag up yet another laser.


Using top quality branded media (such as Verbatim, or genuine TY), burned at 1x may be less stressful to the lasers, but are still operating them outside of their design specs, and will over stress the coils.  Hence why I need yet another CD Changer for the Rover  :'(
