Headlights goes out very fast
« on: 11 January 2010, 14:44:44 »

My headlights goes out very often on 2000, 2.0 16V automatic omega, I usually have to  change them every month and they are very flat, night time useless.
Anybody any idea where to start?

Usually a sign of a loose connector somewhere, and the bulbs can burn out as a result of the constant surges of voltages from being turned on and off rapidly.

the clips are on the right corner, no fuses goes out cause everything else works fine. all the other bulbs are also fine, only the headlight very flat and blows often

under the battery there is an earth wire's undo the nut and clean the wires and the bolt try that and see if it dose it again. and get some cheap lights until you no its fixed, then get some night breakers. that will make it better for driving

Is the battery voltage at a fast idle OK? Could be a symptom of the alternator output being a bit high.

Turn off as much electrical load as you can, run the engine at 2500 RPM or thereabouts and measure the voltage across the battery with a multimeter on volts. if it's over about 14.5V that might be your problem, and it needs to be fixed ASAP before your battery is damaged.
