Shouldn`t do - If you observe the airbag precautions before battery disconnection, disconnect battery, go and have a coffee for an hour, disconnect airbags, repair fault, refit airbags and observe any correct power up sequences, the airbag light should not even come on.

Only comes on when a fault is present when the system is live (and never ever work on it live)

Used to whip them out without disconnecting the battery - never, ever had a problem when re-installed! No lights, no Tech 2 or owt!

Airbags will not go off unless there is an impact to the car or power is directly applied to the airbag.
Hi just a quick note on Airbags, sorry if i sound anal about this.
Any electical charge can trigger an Airbag (even the static off your hair or clothes),
please handle them with care and store them safely,

Sorry for ranting  :-[
Cheers Box

ps. if you cant find anywhere suitable to put it whilst removed stick it under the car so it is in contact with the floor and is earthed

Then you are an idiot - and a very lucky one at that !

No need to apologise for imparting excellent safety advice

Treat the airbags with a bit of respect, be wary of them but no need to be afraid of them. Always store with cusion side upwards and always work on them with cusion side facing you, as if they do trigger, being kicked in the face by a balloon is far better than an imprint on your head of a nut and bolt and a manufacturers logo

Hi

All good news - I got the object out.

I managed to make my own cranking tool out of a normal socket set with a square ended screwdriver bit attached to end of socket.

Took ages but managed to get the seat forward enough for my correct seating position.

BUT when looking at the back of the drivers seat from the rear I saw a coin - picked it up and thought it was a foreign coin but on closer inspection it was the middle of a £2 coin.

And a closer inspection on the runner I saw the outer part (gold piece) of the coin.

I have yet to remove the outer part of coin as it was getting dark but seat now moves backwards and forwards.

I must have been turning and cutting the coin like a tin opener when I was cranking the seat manully.

For the life of me I could not see a coin prior to my discovery no matter how hard I looked.

Everyones suggestion has been greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,
Chris

Glad you are sorted mate    :y

Kept telling you it would be a coin . . Always is !   ::)
