Quick question please.
Does a CDR2005 have an aux in for an MP3 player, or does it have to go via the aerial. The user guide mentions some sort of input for a phone but I am not sure its going to be suitable.

Just been looking on T'inernet, and I guess it does'nt.
Harman Kardon Drive and Play may be the way to go, or get a new head unit if the old lady lets me. :-/

No, CDR2005 does not have any form of AUX in

1st version of CAR400 didn`t have the phone input - pins were in the block, but not connected internally - very few made it as far as the Omega though, that primarily used V2 and V3, but that said, I have seen some used.

Certainly all the ones I've tested for have it, and remember that all Omegas had the Traffic Master from around 97(?), which used the same input, but I guess by then, we were well on the later revisions of CAR400

No, and not really worth the effort looking into such a modification on a less than bottom of the range head unit.

If you are a genius with electronics then it might be possible. There are a number of projects trying to reverse engineeer the cd interfaces on a variety of headunits.

Some of the projects try to spoof the cd input to accept an aux stereo input, others aim to enable a 'car computer' to control a boot cd changer.

I suspect that most of the people who start on these projects probably change cars before getting it working. The only project I know of that has achieved its primary aim is one that uses a PIC controller to spoof the input on a Golf Mk4 HU to work with an ipod or MP3 player.

I find the subject fascinating but won't be attempting to build my own...........

Before trying to redesign a head unit, I`d be looking at the Blaupunkt 420 BP8392 that is fitted down under to the Holdens

Looks very similar to a CAR400 but also has a 3.5mm jack socket on the front for a CD input

Hi, there are three ways to do it:

1. Use FM transmitter, but it is rubbish (low fi and weak signal), I was thinking about build stronger signal FM transmitter but it is illegal in UK to emit more than 50 nanowatts effective radiated power.

2. Use TEL input in your CDR, connect (ground) jack iPod signal to pin 13, L and R signal to pin 16. If you switch iPod on, radio mute and display shows "Message", but it is only mono.
