Estate Boot courtesy lamp

hi guys help needed please. I've recently notice that the boot courtesy bulb in my 02 cdx isn't working. Fine I thought and duly changed the bulb with a replacement. To my amazement it didnt fix the problem. Now as my mechanical knowledge is stretch at changing a bulb, i just wondered if anyone else had a similar problem, and had the soulution to fix it. The only other thing I could think it could be would be the fuses which i have checked and they seem to be ok. So any advice you can give me then perfect.

would think it was the switch on the boot lid take it out and give it a good clean. :y

Hi mate, without wanting to appear a complete numbskull but whereabouts is the switch. I've looked on the tail lid and can only see some kind of latch with a hole in it. I'm not sure if this is where the switch should be or if I'm looking in wrong place. Any help or guidance would be great.

The switch is located to the left of the latch at the bottom of the tailgate.If you follow the left hand edge of the numberplate downwards it should be there(when the tailgate is open). I hope that helps. :y

yep left side, about 3inch from catch there is a cut out and in there, black inch long plactic pin with a cross head next to it that holds it in place. :y

ok guys thanks for the help now I have identified where the switch should be but it was obviously missing. I have obtain a new one but now have the problem off where to connect it too. It has a a connection that looks like it needs to be pushed into a palstic sleave, you know the typical electrical connectors. However after removeing the panel to gain access to the electrics I can't see anywhere to connect too. There is a lead with the type of connector I'm talking about but with 2 connectors together but no obvious place to put the new switch too. I have tried to add some pics to make this clearer but the site wont allow me to. y of you know how tIf anhis connects upo please let me know.

To get pictures up on to OOF there is a 'how to' on this site.Most people use photobucket then after they have uploaded their picture they click on the 'share' tab and look for the option for blogs/forums.I hope that helps. :y

take the skin off the boot might be trox screws,  pull the cover up and should see the wires there if not have good look around,  before looking round take the bulb out or you may need a new fuse, should be an earthing wire but you dont know what may have been done to it, should come down from the left side from out side so looking from in side its the right side, single wire. and dont forget to take the puller off as well..:y

Hi, ive  had a look around and the only wires i can see that aren't connected to anything are these. Take the metal/grey plastic parts off and push the 2 black plugs through the larger hole in the bottom of the tailgate. Then fit the 2 black plugs to the new switch and screw it up.

ok I've followed your instructions but I dont see how I fit both the black parts to the new switch. Heres a picture of the new switch and as you can see it only has one connector

That's a link to this thread Ron, the replacement switch should have 2 spade connectors. Where did you get the switch you have?
