Mid and dash light issue ?
« on: 02 March 2010, 22:32:21 »

hi all

my mid has developed a weird fault will explain as best as i can

switch on ignition and mid comes on shows the usual date/time and brake light check

press brake then sometimes it cycles through all screens continuously or just picks a random screen and stays there

the scroll button has no effect but the reset does work

when i switch on the radio date goes out and shows blank

also the lights on the left side of dash have gone

don`t know if two are related

i havn`t got time to take the dash out till the weekend so any thoughts before i start

oh and i have checked all fuses just in case and there all fine

thanks in advance rob

very odd, firstly make sure the dash is firmly pushed back, if no good, pop it out and check the bulbs. Sounds like indicator button for MID is stuck  :-/ Worth giving that a clean making sure its working ok.

hi rob in gib
sounds similar to a problem i've just got..! my dash went nuts... rev and speedo spiking randomly, dash light lighting up randomly, no problem with MID or radio but engine running fine then staggering along. eventually stopped and wouldn't move on, battery completely flat.managed to get towed to a mates garage and i got stuck in. !!. after some head scratching i think i've pined it to a faulty alternator sending power surges. Either that or the wiring from/to the alternator is at fault.(still investigating)
a quick question fella, it sounds strange but bare with me.! does your battery light come on as it should when you turn your ignition on? mines blown and it has something to do with the above.!

try this take it out and put in fridge for an hour or so, then put in but not completly, see if it works ok then if dose finnish putting it all back in if it works ok for about an hour or so then gose back to the same way, it would be the regulater on the board (in the mid) over heating, can replace it, its a little 6pin chip, or could just get another mid. its the comand chip line. can cause randam screening or just stick in one screen and not be moved.
