Sunroof - ECU location ??
« on: 26 November 2009, 16:46:20 »

Does anyone know the precise location where the Sunroof ECU is located on the early Pre-facelift saloon model?

Despite all the obvious resets, even replacemnet Sunroof motor I cannot get it to open or tilt but I do hear the motor whirring away?
Is the problem likely to be with the ECU?

Am I missing something very obvious? Thanks

if its same as mine the 98 one will not fit,
if its not working ( sun roof ) easy fix, take the disc out and with magnet leave it on it for awhile ( big magnet ) clean the red and black chip with a cloth not with water, when you can pick the disc up with a bit of metal it should be fixed. if that is the fault with it any way. allso will need to wipe the ecu as it dose not wipe its self. :y

Wipe ??  Is that the reset sequence that must be applied to get the ECU  with Ignition on in order for it to remember the open, tilt and slide close sequences?

no its tec 2 to wipe it as it dose not wipe its self, mine had same problem, and cos at time did not have tec2 sun roof after fixing it would close and open but would leave a small gap, wiped ecu with tec 2 and now shuts all way. :y

This was the advice given regarding TECH 2  and Sun Roof ECU reset??   Is this still valid ?

No, no tech2 needed

to reset the positions...

hold the button upwards in each of the 3 positions for a few seconds.  job done, just like resetting windows one touch function.

sounds like your motor could be on its way out.  :-/

it dont work on 95's is stored in unit until it is set to wipe on tec2 98 wipe easy but 95 dont, even if you remove battery for a day it will not wipe, mine came up with codes on tec2 wiped them and sunroof works fine now with no gap.
