TID Repair
« on: 05 April 2010, 11:26:03 »

Hi.
Somebody on ebay is selling instructions on how to repair the display to regain missing pixels. He says it takes about 45mins and only 'special equipment' required is a soldering iron.
Does anybody know how to carry out this repair?
Even if not 100% it may be adequate for me as I am only missing radio information.

Thanks for any help.

TIDs are possible, and info freely available on internet, without paying those thieving, lazy knobheads on ebay for free information.  Patience, lots of, required.

The MID is less possible.

Have done a couple, and considering I think i have infinite patience, struggled with them, and had a few "throw it at the wall and walk away" moments.
CAN be done, but soooooooo fiddly and you need a soldering iron with a 1mm needle tip. (and desolder wick or gun.)

Thanks Gents,
Considering I am the most impatient person in the world (according to my recently-ex girlfriend  :-[ ) maybe I will put up with it until I get another unit! lol.

It was just a google that found it - involved partially lifting ribbon, cleaning contacts, then back down again.

Out of interest, can you repair Rover 25 clock/radio display?

The ones that are full width with the small H/M buttons, usually repairable, the ones with the TM button, no, and the ones with the half width clock and large buttons, I have loads here which we use on an exchange basis
