Got a 2.0 GLS Estate 98 (S reg)
suddenly the speedo & Tacho dont work. Also the dashboard light on the left side has stopped working. Funnily enough the milometer is still working.
Its not mentioned in Haynes, or the vauxhall maintenance program I have.
Any ideas??

have you tryed pushing in the dash display somtimes it works, if not could be the rear board on the back of the rev counter speedo and rev's go into there on the board. could be, dose the abs light stay on if so could be that aswell.

try taking off the battery and lev for an hour or so but back on and see if it works again, worked once on mine.

More likely to be dodgy connections to the dash. I doubt disconnecting the battery will achieve owt.

Like most technical problems....turn it off, turn it back on again. We dont understand why it solves things, it just does

no the battery disconnect didnt work.
do I need to get new clocks, or check the wiring??

The dash makes it's connections when it's pushed into place, it could very well be these connections. Take the dash out & check the connector block .... you'll see when you remove it.

Dont want to hijack but I have same problem on a 98 3.0 V6.
How easy is it to take the dash in and out?
Im guessing if its just the rev counter/speedo not working then the abs/tc ecu should be ok? Then again I have got a brake light check come up on the dash info screen, but all the brake lights are fine?

there is a help page to take out the dash as for brake light check the bulb connection may just need a clean.
