I found even the standard setup on the Omega to be quality, mine was fantastic I thought. Best sound system in a car I've had so far though would be LOGIC 7 in a 730d that I had for a week before it got sold.

got the standard bose in my elite too. sounds as good as the one i listened to in an M3 beemer. Maybe yours has a fault or speakers / amp getting tired.
last car i had i ran a 2ohm stable amp using line level input to uprated speakers. and sounded stunning. just bypassed the bose amp.
might be an idea as most modern amps can run 2ohms.  8-)
