A bit of a non starter

Hi folks,quick one for you.Pre facelift car,key in ignition turn it to first position dashboard lights up as usual.Turn key to start it and nothing happens,all the dashboard lights are still fine and don't go dim.No starter motor movement at all.Any clues? Thanks guys and girls.

Is the keyfob still synched to the immobiliser? Try removing the key from the ignition & operate the central locking open & shut twice, then try to start her up. I hope this is your problem, as it's the simplest fix!! ;)

is it an auto, and the interlock switch on the selector is u/s???

Well after much cursing and swearing it's the starter motor that is at fault (bugger)
Why does it have to happen when I am due to go to the Lakes this weekend?  :(
Thankfully my 'spares' car has a working one on it  :)
Can anyone tell me if there is an easier way to remove the starter motor than the method described in the book of lies ?

quick answer..........Not really.

Not my favorite job to do, especially on a sunday night when its raining hard, so I can use the car to go to work on monday...............!!

Quick update as of about half an hour ago me and my mate have removed the knackered one and replaced it with the one from my 'spare parts' car. :)

Looks like I'm off to the lakes on Saturday after work  :) :y

I'd better dig out the tent !
