rear light wiring

hi have brought some led strips to supplement the indicators and brakes inside the rear light clusters, i know there is going to be lots of critism for adapting in this manner..my car i like it.
i need help in connecting the supply. the strips have know been fitted (a lot of aggro)and i have two wires + & - and only one wire on the loom for each bulb. i believe black and green for right indicator and black and yellow for brake lights. i have tried connected both wires together on the strips and connecting to correct colour but i was wrong..i imagine straight forward enough for those in the know.

Are you trying to get these to come on with indicators or brakes - need some form of diode arrangement if answer is both.

Is this not going to upset any bulb monitoring circuits?

as dave says ^^^ 4-5 leds can work off one diode in line, but you would of just been better off getting the led bulds that just fit in the sockets. and dont set the display off saying there is a fault...

Another thing to consider is that the light output may not be correct for the MOT test, and they will not be classed as 'E' marked.

I presume you are removing the original Bulbs and just using the LED strips?

i am attempting to use led as supplement to bulb so would imagine mot no problem, but firstly i need to connect them.. i dont know what a diode is sorry.
i hard wired towbar electrics into loom along back and had no problems so assumed that adding these strips would be along same principle, don;t know how they where done on car i saw it was at a show and looked fantastic be a shame if not completed i love to do subtle differences that arent popular

Think none return valve for electronics  ;)  ;)  ;) A normal lamp doesn't care which way the 12 volt positive & negative goes, but a diode does ie if  you get them back to front, the lamp doesn't light up.  :y

Not sure how many LEDs you have, but I have retrofitted LED high level brake lights to Omegas, and it never threw up a fault. As for the wiring, I just traced a wire from the light cluster & branched into it.

thats exactly what im trying to do :y
the problem as far as i can tell is that the led strip has a negative and positive wires where as the feed at the rear light is only one wire??? :(

the return negative is shared with all the other lamps in the custer  :-?

No  .. you'll have horrible but working LED's ..   :)

The whole body is the negative ie the car is 'negative earth', just look at the 'earth' cable connected to your battery, one end is to the -ve & t'other is bolted to the car body.

On an old barge like the Omega these LED chav-me bulbs stand out a mile and just scream the fact your questioning your sexuality.
