That is your powersounder advising its batteries are dying.

it is under the wiper scuttle.

remove it (and replace if you wish) or just do without, rest of the alarm will still work.

Dont just leave it, as your alarm will start sounding randomly, and it can also sponteneously combust!  as happened to ours and several others!

Agreed !  Powersounder batteries - replace them now before they are too far gone

Varies, you have to dismantle to tell.  Some are not replacable (due to potting compound).  Officially, none are replacable, and entire unit should be replaced according to Vx

I find it very difficult to believe any insurance inspector will know where it is on an Omega, there is always the fall back.... ' It was like that when i bought it '

There is a guide to replacing the batteries .. but a new powersounder is not that expansive .. around £60 if memory serves .. and its a 5 minute job. Changing the batteries would take a good few hours and you ned to source the right batteries as well

As it was fitted in exactly the same place on virtually every Omega, and you guys have made its removal so well documented on an open forum

er . . . yeah . . . count on it . . . they WILL check it !!!

I know quite a few insurance assessors within the motor trade, and its amazing to see some of the checklists they have in order to try to wriggle out of paying anything. And saying "it was like that when I bought it " surely could be conceived as insurance deception, as most insurers would ask if the car had a Thatcham Alarm fitted as standard - so were you ones of the ones that said,

Of course it hasn`t, please refuse my policy ?

Or did you lie and say, Yes?

Still don't think they would check, why would they?

If it was stolen and burnt, won't be any trace left.

If you run into back of someone, what has a powersounder to do with that? I could have taken it out to be fixed?

If someone runs into back of me, then again, why check for a power sounder?  :-/

Lets face it no one wants to nick and Omega really, they are not valuable, there won't be a key theft on it. There built quite well so quite hard to nick without the keys, so unless your very unlucky in that its nicked, and recovered. Even then, horn will go off if a break in is done, so don't see the issue  :-/
