Swap CCR 2006 for CCRT 2008
« on: 15 September 2010, 23:51:51 »

I've come accross a brand new CCRT 2008 still new in the box and i want to put it in my 03 plate CDX which currently has a dodgey CCR2006 in it.

I know it's probably not gonna be a straight forward swap and i will need a new display but does anyone know what else will be involved such as new wiring for the phone system etc.

I read somewhere that the stubby ariel on the roof was for the phone, is this not the case?

Yep, might need a bit of loom to extend it from the footwell or behind the glove box to the radio

I seem to recall some of the wiring needs modifying (use a TM loom rather than bugger up car loom), and *may* need mic running (assuming you want to use the phone).

The display isn't overly common.

I've managed to source a new display too, eBay can be a wonderful thing, I just hope it all works.

This sort of thing never works out as easily as you plan though.

OK, so the display should just go straight in, no need to worry about loom mods.

The headunit, from memory, needs a bit of loom tweaking. Too difficult to get in at the cars loom and do a good job, so get a 36way full Traffic Master loom to make the mods on

Ok, thanks for the replies, I take it that the extra wiring is for the ariel (behind glove box) and microphone (in the light) for the phone system?

I haven't got wiring schms to hand, but seem to recall the pin assignment on the 2008 is slightly different to 2006.

The cellular aerial probably ends in the drivers kick panel.

Found this on another VX forum

http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/showthread.php?188131-2001-facelift-omega-stereo-fault

Would this be the right wiring diagram for the 2008??

Does anyone have one for the CCR 2006 and i should be able to match everything up.

Thats a well known pinout available on the web that looks like its been printed and rescanned. However, its incorrect (in that the pin numbers are incorrect).

I have the wiring schms for both the 2006 and 2008 (with the GM way of numbering the pins!), but cannot access them at the moment.

OK, I'll bin that diagram then.

I've had a quick look under both footwells for the cellular ariel wire but nothing is jumping out at me. Any idea what colour it would be and could it be in behind the stereo? (I haven't been able to take the stereo out as the removal keys haven't arrived yet).

Thanks.

Aerial is Kick panel, drivers side. Standard cellular coax connection, black (radio aerial goes through there, grey). Normally coiled in from of the alarm ecu

Sorry, still struggling to pdf the wiring diagrams.  Flakey software + Windows 7 = grey hair!
