Brake Lights
« on: 06 October 2010, 23:16:01 »

Hi there,

I seam to have a problem with my brake lights. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Is there a relay or switch I should check? If so where would these be located?
Thanks

the brake light switch lives just above the brake pedal, not too expensive IIRC  ;)

Thanks for the very quick reply. Is it a vauxhall dealer only part?

The switches do have some adjustment in them, the plunger pulls out and 'locks' at different lengths, may be worth a try.

Failing that I have a s/h replacement available...

As yours is an Elite, you must get the 4 pin version, else Cruise Control won't work.

Thanks. I am having trouble locating the switch. Is it right up the top behind the brake pedal?

Pulled the brake switch out and it was at full adjust. Reset it to maximum, re-fitted and appears to work OK now. Time will tell I'm sure.

Yeah thanks for that, they work fine at the moment. Just the cam cover gaskets to do next then! I know I need genuine vauxhall gaskets so I'll get them ordered. Once again thanks for your help earlier really am very greatful :)
