headlights

hello
changed my main-beam bulb today,,,,theres a little lever type arm near bulb,,,pushes up or down,,,while doin this it seems to slightly cover dipped bulb ????
Just curious as to what it is/does

Allows you to cover part of the beam pattern for driving on the continent ;)

Page 123 of the Omega Handbook, gives information about this lever: It's for use when driving on the continent!
Left Hand Drive vehicles: Left Hand Headlamp lever should be moved down and the Right hand headlamp lever should be moved up.
and the opposite settings for Right Hand Drive vehicles (I assume that means vehicles driving on the right hand side of the road)
It saves you having to buy those beam deflectors on the ferry (which you forget to take off when putting the car through the MOT - and it still passes!)

They were the opp way round,,,car had previously been over to eorope,,,prob didnt change them back over,,,,noticed the difference on way home from work tonight,,,
