How big a job are rear bushes?
« on: 20 February 2008, 22:33:00 »

Miggy feeling decidedly strange lately.  Pumped up the tires.  Maybe it's just salt slime, but the rear end seems to squirm around on the suspension like a leaf spring solid axle.  Also a clunk over small bumps/potholes.

If it is rear bushes how big of a job is it to do them?

BTT

It really does feel like there is some sort of rear steering going on.  :-?

If this is a big job then I'll just take a look in Telford.  If it isn't a big deal then I'll try to bring the bushes.

If this is the big donut type bushes, they're a PITA! There is a plate covering each, with one of the bolts going through the centre of the bush. Those can be removed easily enough, but then you have to force the damn things out (have a large screwdriver and crowbar handy), and getting the new ones in isn't easy either -- on mine we had the jack under it and it actually lifted the car up and still didn't go in :o.

You'll get there eventually, grease up the outside of it to help it in, but don't expect to do it in half an hour ;)
