MP3 and similar formats compress the sound to use alot less disk space. When this happens, very often the frequencies that cannot be heard by the human ear (allegedly) are intentionally lost to also save space. This results in sound quality lower than CD quality, even if the sampling rate is higher.

You can still feel (or not feel) the bass and low frequencies, and depth to sound that has been lost in MP3s, so I don't think it would be good quality. Also a cheap FM transmitter would lose any quality in the sound on transmission.

It depends what stereo you've got and what depths/expense you want to go to. If you've got a tape you could just use one of those tape things that connects to your jack out on your ipod.

For a cheap, mass produced item, I find the BOSE system is acceptable

Have been using an FM transmitter but the quality is not brilliant - better than nothing though. I shall be trying one of these having just splashed out on fleabay to the tune of £2.99. I'll let you know how I get on.
If you want to spend £100 to £150 you can buy a kit that plugs directly into your aerial plug hole in the back of the radio (assuming that the Omega has a standard one, I haven't come across many cars that are different.....) I had one installed for a customer of mine a year or two ago on a Vauxhall Agila with no obvious other means of doing it. She was very happy with the performance of it and she was quite picky. Tried it a few times with my ipod and it sounded quite reasonable.

working on commission Andy?  :P

What he says though (annoyingly!) - Is correct, you want to spend a decent amount of money on a quality transmitter, those cheapo eBay specials are not up to the job!  :y
