How to change 2 button key battery
« on: 18 December 2010, 19:47:07 »

Hi,

Only had my Omega a couple of days.

Main issue 1st is the key remote, when opening the door the alarm goes off and stops when engine started. The remote does not work prior to opening the door. Did a syncro of the key and it worked, but next time its back to not working again and the alarm going off.

I have no manual for the car and tried prising the key open to renew the battery, but cannot fully open it and afraid of doing more harm than good.

Is there a demo or pics of how to open the key.

Thanks

there's a small tab on  the blade part of the key that latches onto the fob. Gently prise that away from the fob & slide the 2 parts from each other. The fob splits into two in a line with the blade.
DON'T LOSE THE CHIP or you'll not start the car

Thanks for that,

Another problem now. When opened to change battery, it fell out with its case and the previous owner had a peice of paper inside as if it presses the battery and its carrier against the PCB. Should the battery carrier be attached to the PCB. ???

Thanks

Yes!  :y Martin Imber is your man for fob repairs if you're not handy with a soldering iron.  :y

Unless you are handy do not even attempt to repair.

Huge blobs of solder over multiple components is not going to help.

Superglue is not conductive.

I haev seen both :( :( :( :(

OK

Thanks for the Tips,
as a Temporary measure I've placed a piece of sponge in place of the paper the previous owner had holding the battery and works OK with new battery.

As for soldering, I've soldered a new BIOS chip on my Laptop motherboard so I'll have ago over Christmas.

Thanks again  :y

Get some brass or copper wire about 0.5mm to 1mm cut a slot in the plastic and solder to the battery holder terminals, I fit pins like this then they stay where they are
