Hi JH, this should really be in the electrical section but I'm sure an Admin will move it for you.

Rev counter/Speedo playing up (normally reading zero) and the ABS light on are the first symptoms of the ABS/TC ECU failing. Have a search as there are plenty of threads on this subject :y

Was it a genuine Tech2? Or a generic code reader?

If it was a genuine Tech2 did you try the direct connection to the ABS/TC ECU? Did it connect?

Did it manage to communicate with the ABS/TC ECU?

The SRS (air bags) is on an entirely seperate ECU the ABS and TC are on their own ECU and affect a few other systems such as:-

  • ABS light & system
  • TC light & system
  • Speedo
  • Rev counter
  • Power steering

So the air bag light was a completely seperate issue. Did he try and connect to the ABS/TC ECU?
