hi does anybody know if the steering wheel has to come off to change the cruise control stalk on a 1997 3.0 elite or the mid unit???

thx for that fella was very helpful is there anyway of changing it that does involve tech to software plug in?

Not on 3.0, tech2 enable is only for electronic throttle bodies (2.2/2.5TD/2.6/3.2)

so does that mean on my 3.0 its just simply unplug and plug in the new one and off i go?

on a 3.0 you need the stalk, brake switch, and cruise motor under the bonnet, but no tech2 is needed.

i got an elite that has cruise already but the stalk broken have a new one is it just a case or removing damaged one and replacing with the new item?

Buy brand new not second hand, only £35 +vat from a dealer  :y

cheers fella already got one .do u know if a faulty engine earth strap would cause the mid in the dashboard to stay on if the ignituion switched off?

That happens to me if the Traffic master kicks in and says "message received" all the time - radio cannot be turned off even with ignition off car locked etc.

In my case no option but to remove the stereo and battery connections and re set them all. That reminds me I must remove the useless traffic master system sometime.

This reminds me,

My cruise system has never worked since I got the car (secondhand), even on a car that was supposed to have it as standard. Paid VX dealer to look at the problem, but they could not find the fault.

Any one near me want to come and have a look!
