« on: 15 March 2011, 07:36:16 »

hie guys just a quick one.... what are the implications of fitting a higher amp rated alternator? i mean like fitting a 120 amp alternator marked for a 2.5 v6 on a 2.2 CD which originally had a 70 amp unit

thanks in advance

Not a conversion I am familiar with, but Physical shape and size and connections are the only things I would want to check.

I do not see that the increased output would cause any concern.

The fact you light comes on under high load suggests you have problems with your existing alternator, the standard alternator should be capable of keeping up. I can't see you should have problems by putting a bigger alternator on though.
