Bose - no sound
« on: 24 April 2011, 19:01:02 »

Been messing around with the Bose in the breaker today, trying to work out whats what. Previously if I put a CD in it would play ok, now I can see on the screen which track is playing and how far through the track etc, but no sound comes out of the speakers. There is a "hum" at the speakers, so seems like they are working ok, but no sound.
I also appear to have lost the radio stations from the memory since disconnecting the battery, and I dont seem to be able to retune to any stations. :-[ :(

Have you maybe blown something by trying to add an aftermarket head unit to BOSE despite virtually everybody on the forum advising against it ?

No Dave, nothing like that. Just trying to find out if it all works ok, before I sell it  - its from an elite Im breaking, and I have never so much as seen one before. It was ok two days ago, but not now.I have had the battery disconnected, and when I put it back the Bose cooling fan seemed to be running permanently, but nothing else was happening.I took the fuse out of the back of the headunit, and then put it back. This seemed to stop the fan from running, but still no sound or radio stations.the unit seems to be working otherwise. Its lit up and responds to commands from the buttons on the front, and steering wheel.

Is it still in the car, or have you got it rigged on a bench?

Fuse 34, though doubt that will make a difference.

Daft Q, you haven't disconnected the Bose loom in drivers kick panel?

Havent touched the wiring in the kick panel - unless there is a bad connection there ? I have taken the panel off and the wiring is exposed, but I havent dismantled it in any way. :-/
