Electrical Problems, urgent Please
« on: 11 May 2011, 10:20:02 »

Dears,
I have omega B 2.0l model 1996, I'm facing problems and I think there is a defect in the negative (-) that reached the cabinet which makes the problems below;
1-      Instability in the dashboard lighting and the control panel lighting (front centre) which seems like losing in connection.
2-      Every time after washing the car, the rear door behind the driver not working with centre lock, and I lose the audio sound… and all comes to work normally after the car being dry and this is may takes 2 or three days. The sound back to the speakers one by one (not all in the same time and the front speakers always the last to work), and the rear door lock work with the centre lock after that.
I checked the negative connection with the battery but there is nothing wrong, but I have no idea how to check that inside the cabinet.
For your help please how to solve this problem.
Ali

The connections for the stereo and the central locking e.c.u. are all located down in the (U.K.) drivers side kick panel, maybe you have a leak in that area?

Lift the Bonnet.  Where the Windscreen Wipers are, there is a large black plastic trim panel.

To each side of this panel there is a flap you can lift.  Underneath each flap is a void where water should easily drain to the floor.  These areas easily get blocked with leaves and sludge causing water to enter the passenger cabin and could potentially cause electrical problems, as well as soggy carpets.

Clean the two area's of any debris.  :y

1. Good
2.UK= right hand drive, kick panel is where you have the lever to pull open the bonnet, there are wires beneath that panel which might be getting wet and causing some kind of short circuit.
3. scuttle drain is 2 holes below the windscreen on either side to let the water drain through, if they are getting blocked then this might be causing the water to go into the (wire area in the kick plates on pas side or driver side)  :y
