Sorry to here about the damage, its a pain keeping cars in pristine condition !.
You can get facelift door mirrors, a bit rare but........ I eventually got one for £50 inc post. Beware scrappies who offer ones for £10; they are pre-facelift ones, that will fit, but are not the same shape.

Best of luck,

Ken

Bad news Bob >:(...can't you use a different road to get to work, that's the second time you've had to go on the verge to avoid trucks ::)

Sorry to hear that Bob, & after all my hard work!!! Sometimes we're sent down small lanes in big trucks & it can be tricky. As a wagon driver in such situations i can tell the locals because they back off & leave you room to get round...i always thank them. Others just try to drive round you resulting in me having to stop, wait for them to realize thier mistake & back up. It's not a case of me wanting all the road, sometimes i actually need it. I don't want to go somewhere so tight anymore than people want me there but Industrial Units are'nt always put in the best of places & we still have to deliver.
Some car drivers have no idea how much room an artic NEEDS, but i admit some wagon drivers are total arrogant pillocks who use the size of thier vehicle to give it the big i am & in doing so get the rest of us a bad name. Looks like you met one Bob so i'll apologize on his behalf. I crawl along roads like that so i can stop in time.
I know we're as popular as Traffic Wardens but if we all took a week off together the country would grind to a halt, none of you would work, power would go off & shops would be empty.
Sorry to hear about your car though mate, no excuse for that.

Thanks Guy and I'm not tarring all lorry drivers with the same brush. As with car crivers there is good and bad. At the time I could see he was going to need plenty of room and as I virtually went off the road, I couldn't have given him any more room if I tried. I don't think he'd have given a sh*t if he'd run me off the road completely! What really pees me off though is the fact a lot of these truck use this particular road as a shortcut and it's just not suitable.

Yeah Mike I've tried using different routes into work and this is still the quickest - too many jams on other routes.  :(

Sounds like you met a bad one Bob. As with any driving forward planning is the key. Some car drivers make things hard work only allowing enough room for another car, driving &  parking on corners/junctions etc. We often have to call folks from behind thier desks to move thier cars just so i can get where i need to be. Luckily they're ok with it as are the patient car drivers stuck behind me. They're not expected to know any more than i'd understand their desk job, i'd be lost frankly. I guess we all have a worthwhile role to play in keeping the world ticking over & hope you manage to restore that peachy mig to it's former glory. :y

TBH Mike, I might have to seriously think about that this year with the continually rising fuel and running costs. :'( In 2 years my weekly fuel bill for just getting to and from work has nearly doubled from £35 to £60 per week!! :o

Coupled with the fact that the company I work for has been making a loss for the last 2 or 3 years and as a result no pay rises, and none likely for some time yet. :(

LPG

Unforunately, for 3 good reasons its not a practical option for me.
1) Couldn't afford to loose any load space for the tank.
2) Couldn't afford the conversion cost at the mo.
3) Very limited number of outlets for LPG in this area.
