Air Pressure Switch on power flue systems
« on: 24 September 2011, 13:29:28 »

The guy who attends to our ancient open coals gas fire (with power flue) is on holiday. it was working ok after he fitted new fan but last few days the solenoid will not operate to allow gas through to fire.

He had been messing with the tube from the gas supply to the pressure switch and had fitted a connecting piece for some reason. I stripped that out and fitted one continuous shorter piece. Fire still not working so I adjusted the pressure switch setting to a slightly higher setting and it is working now.

I cannot seem to find anything to help assess whether by increasing the pressure switch setting it may have compromised any safety features.  Any gas fitters on board?

Not really wanting to pay a call out charge when the usual guy will come back and correct it eventually.
