As others have suggested, on estates, the usual culprits are window break and bonnet.

I quick read on a diags computer will say extactly what though, and save the guessing.

Not sure if we have any members up in Geordie Land with suitable gear, as I suspect Hotel21 is too far...

Hi,
Glass break on estate rear windows. I had this problem with mine. The alarm went off for no apparent reason. There are two plastic pop off connectors on the sensor which is stuck to the glass. You will need a filament of wire, just cut back any standard size wire, telly, lamp, etc.Carefully remove the round connectors and place the strand of wire over the bit stuck to the glass, then pop the connector back over the top, securing the wire between the connector and the bit on the glass, Run the strand of wire over to the other connector and do the same. You have now connected the circuit, cutting out the filament which is stuck to the glass.
Test the alarm, then do the other window if necessary. (I found mine the first time)  ::)

The glass break sensors usually get damaged by dogs when carried in the back.  ???
Good Luck
If you have done both windows and the alarm still goes off, the problem lies elsewhere.  :(

PS the fault showed up on Tech2.

Thanks guys,

I really appreciate you all getting back to me.

The alarm situation is driving me nuts.
It's not so much the alarm going off, which is really annoying, although I can over come this by engaging the central locking via the drivers door latch.

It's the fact that I can't find the fault.

First thing in the morning I will wire up the rear window security strips and see if that works.

The strips look fine, but they may well be the issue. Failing that I'll take it have the alarm codes read.

Once again, thanks to everyone for their comments.

Richy.

Yes, check again, mine looked fine, I could'nt see a break, but after I'd used the wire trick, job was sorted!  :y

Hi to all,

I honestly can't believe it but it looks like the wire trick has worked.

I wore a pair a 3x magnification glasses and traced the entire length of the filament on both sides of the car. The break wire looked to be in perfect condition. I then disconnected the two connectors and looked at their size. I found a bolt of a similar size, cut two pieces about 6 to 8mm long and simply joined the two female ends of the connectors together using the small piece of bolt as a male/male connector. It looks neat, I haven't had to cut anything and there are no additional connectors or wires.

The alarm hasn't sounded in a couple of days now and I'm chuffed to bits.

Once again, thanks to everyone.

If only I can get my computer to work properly now!
