Decisions decisions........???
« on: 27 September 2011, 19:18:03 »

Well I'm really confused now, dunno what to do really. Although I'm really impressed and have built up a fond liking of my miggy, I looked back to last winter..... The bad weather ie. 3 foot of snow near where I live and all the fuss and messin about it took me to get anywhere at the time in my wifes little Focus (my discovery was written off last October - Don't ask very touchy subject  >:( >:( >:( !!!). So I thought for this winter I'd either buy a tatty 4x4 with a few months tax & test on it to get me through OR go the whole hog & set about looking for a half decent 4x4 and replace the miggy with it.
Well I found a really good contender in a garage - Discovery 2 lpg'd. All the bells & whistles on it and only 68k on the clock. then dared to ask "what will you give me for the Omega?"  2.6 2002 cdx wi just 60k on it?????
Any guesses????  :-\

Anyway, thinks I'll be keeping it after that offer & struggle through IF it snows this year.

if budget permits buy 2 used studded winter tyres for rear (put rear 2 in urgent conditions) and 2 new winter tires  for front and go where you want :y

I have just gone through the exact same scenario, though I bit the bullet on the Mig and bought the 4x4...... :) :) :)

I was thinkin of goin down the snow-chain route??? dunno what others think? I was pretty cheesed off with the offer £750 'the best he could do' (my ar$e!!!).  I did think of tryin to sell it privately but I doubt I'd get rid of it in time to buy the Disco, Pity really it wont be there long   :( :( :(

snow chains are the cheapest way.. but not the easiest for some..  at least for me,  -10 celcius and frozen hands dont help either..

4x4's are so expensive to run even if you get a shed, looking at a grand to put a new set of tyres on a Range Rover. If we get another harsh winter, think I'd be looking at an Audi A8 Quattro for family T fleet

something like this:

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201136414677743/sort/priceasc/usedcars/model/a8/make/audi/postcode/nn136er/radius/1501/page/2/quicksearch/true?logcode=p

Prob could be had for £1.5k, should deal with most of snow we get, be a damn site better on road when there is not any!

A grand for RR tyres?!?!?!?  :o :o :o

I've never paid that, I can get good premium make for £70-£80 a corner, well I did for my last disco. I'd love another RR though, just can't be ar$ed fettlin that bloomin air-suspension (first thing I do with em) its a real pita!!! Gonna have to have a heart to heart with the miggy, I might bite the bullet and advertise it yet, just to see if theres any interest.

RR size is: 255 / 55 / R19 for standard 19" Vogue wheels, cheapest branded is £202 or £180 for Toyo's
