LSD Spec/Modification
« on: 29 September 2011, 23:24:00 »

2nd post,

Right im confused as anything regarding the limited slip diff options on an omega.

What ratios were available?
What rate locking were they?
Im assuming they were all one way diffs and no 1.5/2way diffs were availible?

Basicly im looking for a differential that would fit a 2.5TD omega B, preferably 2 way, and with a very high locking rate.

Just realy looking for options other than welding the diff up, as the car would be spending 98% of its time on the road doing silly miles on courier runs, and only about 2% up at pod on the drift days. Make it a bit more pleasant at low speed in carparks and such  :y

ok - the story is this.....

There are four axle ratios from which to choose. 3.45, 3.70, 3.90 and 4.22

Most of the Omega A ( Carlton ) Carlton GSi and Senator CD models got LSD in the same ratio as for the basic car.

All omega A are single-acting and all are 25% locking factor, EXCEPT the Omega EVO500, which had 40%

Omega B never had LSD available over the counter. It was available as a very special order from the factory and available for Police forces - maybe 25% of the police cars were so-fitted. The Police LSD cars had a mix of any of the above ratios.

Although the diff casings are different, the internals from an Omega A case can be built into an Omega B case. Alternatively, it is possible to put an Omega A casing in an Omega B car with a bit of work.

I'm experimenting with a skim to the diff carrier in an attempt to raise the lockinjg factor currently, but not expecting this to be 100% success.
