MPG difference between a 3.0 manual and 3.0 auto
« on: 10 October 2011, 16:40:53 »

Hello all,
Still miss my 11 years with an Omega having sold my 3.0 Elite 8 months ago.

Spotted a nice manual 3.0 litre Elite estate but need to convince the other half that it would be cheaper to run than the previous auto that averaged 19mpg over two years.

It generally did around 18-19 stop start around town and up to 30 on a run.

What difference in mpg would a manual make?

Any info very appreciated.

Steve

Around town a manual is a good few MPG less thirsty. On a run there's nothing in it. In fact, the manual is shorter geared, so it could even be worse.

at the beginning manuals consume less(because you are trying to proove).. but after, you will see that it drinks more because you will start to hammer it ;D

I get between 18-20 on my 3.0 auto around town, I reset it every tank.
I get 25-28 around town in my 3.0 manual around town.

Both get 34 ish on a run at 80 mph.
