Strange one this
« on: 16 October 2011, 12:21:01 »

3 ltr V6 with lpg conversion.

Had some nightmares over the last 3 years as some may remember so I have spent a lot of time lying on my back underneath the shed.
Replaced the backbox and all rubbers yesterday ( thanks to MaxV6 for sorting that one for us  :y :y ).

Over the last few years, I have noticed that one side ( off / drivers ) of the exhaust system never seams to be as hot as the other.   The same side always seams to seep water from the exhaust joints and eventually starts to blow meaning I end up lying on my back again with a spanner and a handfull of exhaust paste to gob it up   ::)

Before I fitted the backbox (twin pipe), I had a good look down it and noticed that you can see directly down one side and out the same side ( left / left ..... right / right ).
Started the engine to cure the paste and noticed that one side of the exhaust backbox exits is nice and warm, the other is cool and damp  :-\

I'm looseing a little water but that is down to a small leak on the lpg side that needs sorting.

The car has also started to hunt at idle.
Not enough to cause a problem ie- codes or stalling.

Never really been a problem before but now I know that there is a direct path ( left and right ) through the backbox, it bugging me  :(

Can anybody shine any light on this please

Should also add that it starts with the first turn of the key but it does run hot when on lpg.

just a thought.....   since no one else seems to have any input....   but might it suggest a leaky manifold gasket?? sucking cooler air in on one side????

(i know this threads been stagnant....  i just happened across it....  )

Thanks Max   :)

The exhaust does seem to be blowing a little ( or someone has sneaked a v8 under the bonnet )  ;D
Mpg is definetly down a little  :(

The exhaust has been on and off alot over the last 6 months so i'll have a look round there over the weekend.   Daz blanked off the SAI bits last year so maybe I might have knocked something  :-\

Either way, its still hunting at idle on both gas and petrol so something ain't right  :(

Diff end plate has been removed, oil drained ( what little they was in there ) and nice fresh oil and additive put back in.
