Hmm. The public might be getting disillusioned with Brussels, but I think MPs know that's where their bread's buttered, sadly. >:(

Turkeys don't vote for Christmas and when MPs lose their seat or want to increase their income, or a lucrative retirement. Then it is I ho, I ho, its off to Brussels we go, as the EU gravy train and trough make our MP's look positively impoverished.  ::) >:( >:(

I'm sure in the unlikely event we were granted a referendum the Liberal Democraps would insist in writing the question for their continued support of the ConDem alliance and it would be along the lines of:

Do you think the UK should leave the EU - Tick the No box

or

Do you think the UK should stay in the EU - Tick the Yes box
 :o :o :D :D

What those esteemed representatives should be getting jittery about Terb are the increasingly put-upon peoples of this nation who are being dealt a disservice by that group of self serving oppss - oppss who are draining the life blood from this nation and her peoples by virtue of incompetence, avarice and skewed morals.

A referendum, should it ever be placed before the nation, will amount to nothing because there’s few within Westminster capable of delivering cohesive, coherent or coordinated government without direction from ‘Brussels’,  the crutch of ‘coalition partners’, partisan lobbyists sporting a particular agenda or a quiescent and similarly inclined opposition.

Whatever happened to professional clear sightedness, strong principles and the desire to serve the people who put them there in the first place?

As said in a previous post, these turkeys will certainly not be voting for Christmas – or whatever term should be used to satisfy the increasingly sensitive souls of this country - lest some crackpot be offended at an overtly Christian reference.

Rumour has it that Cameron (never has been a Conservative and never will be) is going to resort to a 3 line whip to make sure Tory MP,s toe his line and dont allow this to get off the ground. Democracy - doesnt understand the meaning of the word. >:( >:( >:(

It's a redundant exercise my son - gives the impression that someone in government actually gives a opps when, in fact, that don't - which we all know anyway.

It amounts to being merely smoke and mirrors (and a great dollop of cynicism) to help keep the droogs at bay and in the mistaken belief that there may be a chance that this issue will stand any chance of producing a result that will treat the cancer that is the EU.

Just seen this on 'The Peoples Pledge' on facebook......Go for it :y :y :y :y

'As we broke news to you yesterday, the Daily Express and other papers have now picked up on mounting speculation that Downing Street's last-minute decision to change the referendum vote date from Thursday to Monday was triggered by our planned mass lobby of Parliament, booked in for the same day as the debate. We will NOT be deterred however, and need your support to come down to Westminster this coming Monday for this HISTORIC opportunity. Email chris@peoplespledge.org to help us make this the single most important day of action!'

Cameron has got this badly wrong IMO...... What the country wants and needs is an honest debate about our membership of the EU!  ??? Any vote in tomorrows debate is non-binding, so Cameron (and Milliband) should relax and allow a free vote!  8) By implementing a three line whip they are stifling the debate and MP's will be considering their own position, rather than those that they were elected to serve!!  ::) So no change there then....  >:( >:( >:(

I actually have to (in the best interests of my business) spend time with the EU and it is the most bureaucratic self serving shambles you could wish on your worst enemy if he had to pay for it. Hotels in Brussels are booked up at 250 euros plus a night, travel on full fares, meeting after meeting with thousands of hangers on NGOs - the whole lot do not and try not to understand business.

In principle the idea was good for common market but the reality is it should not have been invented in this form as it is now overrun by the most despicable useless human beings you can come across and the waste and duplication is an offence against humanity where the funds they consume could be used for genuine public good.

I have been going each week for past 4 weeks or so and it is not a lot of fun.

Quite right, Tigger, he has got this VERY wrong and I reckon it will be a watershed, both in terms of his premiership and popularity of the coalition. There again, Millitwit won't do well out of it either. the biggest winner will be UKIP. ( :y :y)

One thing that really gets my goat, though, is the inclusion of an option to "renegotiate" our relationship with the EU and repatriate some powers to Westminster. To suggest such things are possible is simply disingenuous, as Autonomous Mind rightly points out:

The Cameroons will win this vote tonight, but at what cost?

UKIP will be very pleased.

Me, too.  ;) :y
