Stupid question but do the cams have to come out to change a noisy v6 follower?

OK, try again...

Yes, it is indeed correct, that in order to replace the noisy follower present within this engine, you will indeed have to, I am afraid to confirm, remove the camshaft from the engine before you can remove the said noisy follower from the engine.
