cash for crash!!!
« on: 20 October 2011, 12:27:47 »

Rising insurance premiums are a problem that has affected the large majority of motorists on British roads.

Earlier this year the AA British Insurance Premium Index reported the average drivers premium had risen a shocking 33.2% from 2010.

Although there are numerous reasons for the increase in costs, the biggest issue for insurers is the rising number of fraudulent personal injury claims submitted. The number of staged incidents or ‘Crash for Cash’ accidents as they have become known in the media have had a massive effect on the price of car insurance, namely in inner city areas. The knock on effect of these claims, usually for whiplash, is huge. As well as the compensation that is paid out to claimers, insurers are forking out for other costs incurred including vehicle repairs, legal cover and doctor’s fees leading to the total costs of minor claims skyrocketing.

On top of the massive coverage ‘Crash for Cash’ incidents have received in the national press, BBC 1 highlighted the problem on its Panorama program.

The documentary gives a detailed insight into the ‘Crash for Cash’ problem by infiltrating a criminal ring that organise and carry out these accidents. The program does not make for pleasant watching and is sure to raise a few temperatures.

I wonder if they will mention the fact that the Labour party has advice on their website on claiming for accidents and provides links for people to contact ambulance chasing solicitors ?
Apparently they recieve around £200 referral fee every time someone is referred from the site and makes a claim.

If that is true , then it is as outrageous as the report that said the police got up tyo 1000 pounds for the private details of accident victims. T'is a pretty sick society we are making.............
