Broken the Skudo again
« on: 22 October 2011, 10:18:01 »

Last night.....the engine management light came on, the display complained of antipollution fault and it went into limp mode.

Its been into the garage this morning, when they read the codes, it was complaining of a blocked particulate filter. The garage first suggested it needed a good blast up the motorway,  i pointed it does 200miles/day on the m4 5 days a week...so its now having its particulate filter and oil changed.

Hopefully that will fix it  :y

I think i'm getting as good as TB for breaking cars  ;D

agreed my neighbour has a newish citreon  and always has problems with his  the dealer keeps telling him its because he only does short journeys  so now he has to waste diesel giving it a blast down the motorway once a week

Unless you do the mileage and dont just use it for pottering town, you shouldnt really go for a diesel....

TD, what engine is in this? A friend of minne had this issue, he told me of a trick, disconnect the battery for 10 minutes, and try it after that. He also said it will reoccur after 12 months exactly, but just do the same again. Whether it works or not I don't know  :-\ If the DPF were to go in my Beemer I'd have it removed and mapped out, way more hassle than they're worth.

Its the 1.6TD multijet, bit underpowered when you have a full load, but averages nearly 40mpg (worked out the old fashioned method)  :y
Its getting a new filter and oil on Monday (couldnt get the parts on Sat)
Doubt i'll have it still in 12months.....its done just over 140k now  ::)

Interesting

Never seen one just block for no reason, its normaly town driving or EGR issues or also split DPF pressure sensor pipes.

You can clean them out quite easily

there was a report on watchdog about particulate filters in nissan qashqai ..in the tv advert it was described as perfect for urban or something ..but if u only drive urban, u have to take it on a 40 min at 40 mph run to regen the pf hardly perfect ... :o

Its dead easy, you fill it with a caustic soda solution, leave it for a few hours, shake it well and then reverse flush it.

Fit it back on and force a regen

Job jobbed

Well....

This has know got the garage stumped....

Its had a new particulate filter, new egr valve, new diesel filter.

The engine management light is now off and the ecu isnt reporting any problems (so i assume they have fixed something!) but take it for a spin on the road at the side of the garage and it can manage all of about 10mph! before we run out of road (few hundred yrds)

Dont think its in limp mode (otherwise engine management would be on??)

Fuel starvation???  :-\

They are now waiting for an 'expert' to take a look at it

Well....the saga continues  ::)

It still hasnt been fixed......its been to diesel 'expert' who has declared the turbo is shafted!

New turbo being fitted next week.

Personally i dont think its the turbo.....my reason.....start it up.....floor the accelerator when its in neutral and it revs to a max 2.5k revs.....surely a knackered turbo wouldnt stop it revving when no load?  :-\ :-\

Sounds like its in limp, if turbo was dead, would it not rev to red line with no load. But under load be flat as pancake?
