Brakes: Consistent click
« on: 23 October 2011, 15:02:16 »

Right,

Whenever car is reversed and then driven forward I get a click the 1st time the brakes are applied when moving forward again.

Now, as it's an auto what I mean exactly is after being driven forward and then starting to stop - it's at that point the click happens - just as I start to brake.

Went out earlier, did it as I set off from home as had to reverse out of drive, then forward 20 yards to stop at a junction. Then when I got to B&Q had to revese out of the parking space and then stop at the exit. Its clicked exactly as expected both times.

It's been doing it for a few weeks now - but as the car is little used then its taken a while to think about pinning it down & then doing so.

Front disks/pads (both Vx trade club) have been on for 18 months - which is about 2,000 miles. The rear disks are original (77,000 mies) and rear pads are Vx trade club and been on the car a few months.

Any ideas? I really cant tell if the noice is coming from the back or front.

Thanks

At a guess, I'd say that the pads ar moving fractionally in the calipers :-\ :-\ Have the rear pads still got the spring clips in place?

Needs checking really, but it does sound like it is the pads moving. Is it fairly feint or louder?

It's not mega loud - but now I can just detect it inside the car with the windows closed
