has any one got a pair of rear caipers (the ones with the longer pins that hold the pads in) for a 3l v6 saloon as mine both have snaped bleed niples.

The wider calipers are for vented disks, which were never fitted to 3.0l

Need to know exactly what you have, as using wider calipers with non vented disks will end in tears...

Iv got solid disc's just when I went to get a new pin kit for the pads there where two types and the short pins wouldn't fit but the longer ones would

That's what The Boy means. If solid discs have been fitted to the wider calipers intended for use with vented discs, the you run into problems when the pads wear down & a piston pops out of the caliper leaving a trail of brake fluid down the road & a stain on your driver's seat! The short pins should fit your 3.0 calipers.

You have the wrong calipers then, that is a dangerous combo - we have seen the pistons pop out under braking.

I'd very seriously recommend either fitting vented rears, or calipers for non vented discs.

There not wrong calipers as they are the same on my dads and he has solid disc's and he has the same size pins and they are original ate calipers

If you need the longer pins, and have solid rear discs, they ARE the wrong calipers. Sorry.

Are we talking about genuine VX pins? or pins from a motor factors?

Have the calipers been changed recently?

If the OP gets a good pair of calipers from a car with solid rear discs the problem will resolve itself IMO.

Oops. Albs had a pair but has already sold the O/S/R one.

Anyway, rear brake calipers usually last for ever on the Omega so every time one of the breakers listed in the for sale section break a car there should be two good calipers available.

At the risk of sounding boring, if you have the long pins, you have calipers for vented discs, and must use vented disks. Quite simple really. Thats where you are now, irrespective of how you got there.

When, not if, the rear caliper piston pops out, it is such a catastrophic leak that you will lose that braking circuit immediately.  Sorry to sound anal over this.  Assuming you actually live to admit it, the last of your worries will be all the brake fluid sprayed down the side of the car. We have seen this before, sadly.

iv just bought new calipers for my car and there exactly the same as the ones that came off it im guessing that the two different pins sets one must have been way wrong from the motor factors as the new calipers came with a pin set which was the same as what i bought and they are apparently for soilid disc's and tbh with the thickness of the pads you wouldnt fit vented disc's in that gap with the pistons all the way back. motor factors must have gave me the wrong pin set for a vectra or summin rather than a omega thats why i thought they where too small.
