steam to run a pc game...help

bought football manager 2012 today, you have to install it through steam and having tried that it says steam is installed, but then i still cant get any further because it says error 5 access denied. has anyone got this game and had similar problems, or know how to fix this so i can install the game?

where are you installing it?

That error is usually due to lack of permissions allowing you to run steam itself....

also make sure steam.exe is not set to read only...

installing onto a windows 7 pc so have the correct requirements to run the game, but i cant even get to the game because of this steam problem >:(
where would i see the read only thingy you mention?

right click on exe shortcut > properties

on compatibility tab, tick box run as administrator

ok, have done just that, no change. excactly same message appears. what happened to the good old days of bunging the game in and....wayhey...it plays!!! >:( >:(

Always used to be a big PC gamer, but got hacked off with introduction of steam to play games, constant fiddling with settings. You pop a game in, it works, waiting for Battlefield 3  :D

Its still sounds like a permissions issue:

I personally would love to put an RPG right up the bum of Steam, it's a ridiculous system, poorly designed and implemented even worse.  I steer clear of it if I can.
