By the time he's paid the specialist charges to do that, then a new key is still the way to go. Which is necessary whatever else happens.

Thanks for the replies so far all, something to go on thankfully.

Should add, it's a facelift on a W.

Suddenly the front 12v ashtray / draw not working seems the least of my worries!  ;D

OK, update time(!)

* Vauxhall can supply carpass and single key for £150 plus vat. But say that I'll need to get the car recovered to them to have the ECU brought into line with the transponders on the new keys.

* The keysmith guy I spoke to last night said this wasnt neccessary, but he could do it if it was reqd!

Any thoughts?

If, as in his advert, he can get the necessary codes required would it not be quicker (maybe cheaper) to use him :-\

Hmm. I'm not sure how he's going to get anywhere without a key to clone or a car pass. Even then, he'd struggle with the remote fob as they are very much less easy to clone.

Sounds like the dealers are speaking the most sense to me. Get them to get a car pass, then order a key of the correct pattern. That'd at least get you into the car, then either recover it to the dealers and get them to Tech 2 it, get a tech2 to the car, pair the immobiliser and drive the car away, or buy/borrow a paired ECU, immobiliser and chip, swap these over and drive it to the dealers.

OK,

latest from keyman!

* Carpass £30 plus VAT
* Full remote Key £110 plus VAT
* Non remote Key £65

Will the non remote key still have the immob chip in it I take it?

If I buy one new full remote key, is there the experience on this site to clone me another key?

I'm thinking I'm going to have to get one of each just to be safe!

Yes - provided you've got the carpass.

You need a remote (off ebay) a blank horseshoe (with blank transponder - off ebay), and a tame key cutter to copy your existing key - a visit to one of the guys on here with a Tech2 will get your key programmed - a lot less than £110  :y
