hole in Pre Cat

my ns precat has developed a hole, just about the diameter of my little finger, on the side of the precat. NOT on a seam. Seems v unusual!

Any ideas on cause? Car has done 130k

struggling to get a replacement!

Given precats are useless anyway, anything stopping me using a 3.0 cat, if I shave off 5mm of downpipe flange, and stick an extra lambda boss behind cat to keep ecu happy?

Looks like it might have been an impact :-\

Hell yes, it sounds like a tractor!! The heatsheild is off the car, that is a hole in the cat alright...
