Hello. I ran the car today after replacing the head gaskets, and found a whole bunch of error codes flashing, non of which were there before when the engine gave up the ghost, even though it was steaming like a traction engine. They are;
144, 89, (O2 no.2 sensor open circuit which one's that?) 46 (air pump voltage low) and strangest of all 69&71 (air intake temp. voltage low and high respectively). I can only assume that this is because I had one connector in the wrong place, and overlooked the other. How do I clear them and what's the 46 all about?  It seems to be running perfectly well otherwise. Any ideas? Cheers.

Thanks for that. I had a fault code for a camshaft sensor a couple of years back, which was replaced with one from a breakers. I remember the management light stopped showing after that without my doing anything else. How so?

the fault code for your cam sensor will still be there even if the management light is not lit
coder is still needed to erase all codes

Does that mean that the engine management light will go out of it's own accord at some point, which is good enough for me. Forgive my ignorance, but I don't really know what a code reader is or does. The cam sensor fault didn't show up this time around, and I certainly have not erased it with anything.

If EML is on, there is still a fault.

Needs to ideally go on a Tech2 by somebody who has a clue (rules out most dealers and garages, sadly).

A generic OBDII reader won't talk to that ECU

can you explain the disappearance of my cam sensor fault. From what you are saying, it can only be erased by some techno stuff. Which is not what happened.

Nope, codes can disappear from paperclip test once the ecu thinks its fixed.  Even like this, some codes remain for a code reader to see, though not all.

the 46 - check the solenoid near top rad hose is plugged in.

On the air temp sensor, make sure the plug connected is the one with teh second longest lead on that loom section. The longest loom section should connect to the multiram solenoid

All electrical connectors in the right place, but fault codes are still showing. I don't understand how I can have a 69 and a 71 - high and low voltage for the same thing.
Anyone know which one is number 2 O2 sensor? Someone's selling them on Ebay for £12. Should I? Autovaux's price is £63.
