Headlight range vision

I know this is a common problem. I know what is wrong but nee to know is there more to it. That warning is coming up on dash and I've read before that the lens will be loose so I have to change the wee plastic boyo for a metal one. But was just wondering is that it. I heard something about sensors on the suspension aswel are these slimmest of the same systems.

Sensor on the front wishbone is first check ;)

Yep check arm still in socket - also one on rear suspension  ;)

Even though the lens are moving like crazy. Is there a Small bar connecting the sensor to the suspension, if so there is no bar there. How much would you be chatting to get u fixed.

head light range message don't have anything to do with broken adjusters, the electrickery gubbins has no way of knowing where your head lights are pointing. The message is due to a failed level sensor front &/or back (probably front) or a seized motor in the headlight.  :y

There is the sensor sitting by itself. With only wires going into it. It feels like there is a hole at the back of it and I think I seen somewhere that a small bar connects into it.

That rod connects to wishbone, to tell the headlight ECU what the suspension is doing.

Dont think the rods are available on their own, might be worth contacting a breaker...


...or post up a pic, so we can confirm :y

Look at the rear sensor (RNS) on the radius arm, they're both the same sensor - different bracket.  :y :y There should be a short arm.  ;)

Haven't checked the back yet. But definitely know there isn't one at the front I try and get a pic up tomarrow of both front and back.

Change the sensor, it needs to see the large ball fitted in the large hole at the back. That will raise a fault. Although there may possible be other faults. Start with another sensor complete with arm and linkage etc. Hopefully that will sort it.

Does the warning appear all the time or intermittently? Mine has done this for years and no faults found - KW did a check 2 years ago and nothing came up. I just ignore it and for past 6 months message has not reappeared. Will see what happens when we get wet cold conditions.

Message comes up everytime. I'll get a proper look at weekend. How much would a full sensor kit be does anyone know.

I got a second hand rear sensor for £30, took minutes to fit, and has solved my headlight FLD/VIS fault.
Did get TB to tech2 it first, which showed up the faulty sensor :y
