Now joined 2 Jaguar forums - found that whilst the few guys that are on are friendly, there's a distinct lack of technical knowledge compared to OOF - lots of references to owners handbook which doen't really help with solving technical problems.  Think, as a new member on these forums, I have probably imputted more technical assistance than most.  Distinct lack of gurus!!

Anybody had similar experiences with "other marque" forums (should that be fori?)

Yup, lot of other forums tend to be focused to chavvy modifications too.

One of my worries is when Omega's are too old and no decent examples left to replace, is finding a forum like this for a replacement car.  :(

Audi A8, Jag XJ, BMW 5/7, are most likey but forums are a problem. VXR8/Monaro is an option when they come down in value.

I frequent the Rover forums and some of the Audi ones a bit.  The Audi one is full of tumbleweed, sprinkled with 'dangle berries', the Rover one is all about bodykits and getting 400bhp from a 1.4 restricted K series ::)

In my (limited) experience, the more 'prestigious' or expensive the car in question, the less technical knowledge there is on the forum because the owners all have enough cash to just "take it to the dealer" every time something goes wrong..

Clearly we're all poor because we drive 10+ year old Vauxhalls, so we have to get our hands dirty.. ;D

No, they won't. Too expensive, no market for it.

I don't have to get my hands dirty - just begrudge paying a bl**dy fortune to a spotty yooth to work on my car - if I do it myself I know its been done properly.  Always worked on my own cars - altho had 40+ years of company cars where servicing/repairs not paid for by me.

Already (kind of) been replaced with the abysmal Insignia. VX make truely shite cars these days. ::)
They wont make a proper large luxury saloon again. Non prestige marques (Ford /GM etc.) got out of that market several years ago.No profit in it for them. ;)

As fatherT said to me other day.

You see adverts for "Get Brand new BMW 5 series" or "Get a Brand new Mondeo"

Just £299 a month....

Fek me 300 quid is an expensive month in Omega ownership! The 3.2 Elite I just got is practically rust free. I hope to keep this going for a long time!
