After removing the fuses and relays to check them to try to resolve a different problem the CD/Radio went into safe mode. Before I did remove the fuses I had made sure I had the re-activation code to hand. It was on a new car pass that had been supplied when I bought the car. As all the other info on the card was from VX I thought that it would be correct.
It wasn't. The thing will not accept the code given and I have tried it twice exactly as instructed by the manual.
Is there any other method or do I have to take it to a dealership to re-activate the system?
Would it be more cost effective, given that the front CD flap will not close anyway, to replace the head unit with one that has the correct activation code or suffer the dealer costs provided that they can do it?
Lousy git did not tell me when I bought it that the unit had been changed. There again it had not been serviced properly either as his 'paperwork' had shown.
My experience when I have now worked on it is that the work was done by some lousy back street so called garage by someone who was not fit to make the tea.
I am getting it back to standard slowly but surely into what it should be.
