One way of finding air leaks is to spray LIGHTLY with carb cleaner whilst the engine is running, spray lightly along vac pipes, plenum base, generally all around the engine..... but in a controlled manner .. don't just swamp the compartment.....  when the engine note changes it means some vac cleaner has been sucked in and burned as unmetered fuel, hence the change in engine note.

Closer examination of that area will eventually pinpoint the leak. Fix the leak, wipe the engine down with papertowel .. Voila .. fixed problem and a nice clean engine

Bit difficult that - ops car won't start  ???

Someone suggested MAF maybe - just unplug it and try again - if it starts then dodgy maf.  to find maf follow trunking down from air filter front drivers side - its the first plug you come to.

Agree probably crank sensor - its around £50 from Vx on TC - easy to replace - believe there's a howto  :y

RIGHT

before doing anything else, read the codes.  Pissing around like this has stored more codes, masking, potentially, the real fault.

P1530 is an AC relay issue so not likely to be related

0335 = Crank sensor .... the one item that stops the V6 dead ... easy enough to change ..

There is only one crank sensor on the omega V6 .. the OBDII list of codes is standardised for all vehicles and some have more than one.

As you are DBW with the 2.6 there is (I believe) only 1 CS that fits so a dealer will have no problem supplying the right part.

Genuine VX only .. no pattern parts or you'll be changing it again next month. Follow the guide and re-route the cable as instructed.

Takes less than 30 minute and only tools needed are a torx driver, snips and cable ties.
