A mate has just bought a 1 year old Fiat (yes I know !) and the dealer tried to charge him a silly amount of money to coat the seats with a product which prevents staining and makes it easier to clean. I ve heard of similar (scotchguard ?) for furniture in the home.Anyone know the details,name of the product etc. which is used in cars ?

Exactly the same as my sister-in-law a few months ago with an Asrta H .............. c£100 IIRC
Fortunately for her/unfortunately for the salesmankid I went with her & told him she didn't want it ............. amongst other things.

I have used sonax , in spray form..was useful, and really protected the chair for some time..(its a colorless liquid that covers the chairs like a laquer) also I know Dr Vinyl have better products which are extremely expensive but it protects even from colorful juices ..(but they dont sell)

for a new car I definitely recommend them.. especially if passengers are small children..

but on the long term, using these materials and car care shops costs serious money.. so even converting to leather is cheaper
