When I bought my Vierra 46" nearly 2 years ago I was also going to get a PS3 or XBox 360

Well now considering a 60" TV (for the bedroom as my PC monitor and also to get back into some gaming.

Not botherered with the PS3 as the only game I like is Gran Turimo for that.

So XBox it is for now, but with one.


It has to be a black one, but the star wars special edition does look nice.

But which is better the 4GB or 250GB?


Do I buy a package with 2 controllers or get a 2nd wireless one after wards.

Is this Kinetics setup worh it.

The 250GB obviously has more storage space for when you start downloading add-on's & what have you, but it's gonna cost you extra if you want the extra storage space.
Our kids have had the 4GB models for a year now, and they haven't managed to get their drives even 50% filled yet.

As per your phone thread, it really depends on what YOUR plans are for it.
If 2 kids are gonna be sharing it, it makes sense to have 2 controllers ready.
There are plenty of bundle deals out there, I'd personally be going for a bundle deal with Kinect and buy the 2nd controller afterwards (assuming you are going to get the Kinect at the same time).

Definately, but you do need a lot of space.
For 1 person playing, you need to be 6ft minimum from the sensor while allowing for an extra 3ft or so behind you for front/back movements and approx 8ft space for your side to side movements.

Only 2 kids in this house are me and my better half.  Never really watch TV, spend an hour a night playing games online with the PC, but have considered the xbox route for 2 years now as mentioned, Hadnt thought about the kinetic thing regards the space if hooked up in bedroom though.   Mind you, have the PS2 and old xbox for that.

We still have an original Xbox console from way back in 03 (or thereabouts) that still works quite happily with the 120GB IBM "Deathstar" drive that replaced the standard 10GB model and Slayers Evox 2.6 for the dashboard.
Even at 10+ years old it still offers more than any console/media centre available today. In fact the only shortcoming I can think of is that it can't handle some of the newer movie formats (eg, h.264) when playing back, but we have a Popcorn Hour for that.

Unless you copy games to the HD to save the dvd drive and for faster/quieter loading.

Very faint possibility there will be an "announcement" on a new Console, but January is wrong time to launch, they will be missing Chrimbo rush, be mid 2012 at earliest

as martian says, kinect needs a lot of space, esp 2 player.
