Upgrading a CDX to Elite
« on: 22 November 2011, 17:00:48 »

Hi all,

If I was to get a CDX, what work would be needed to make it an "elite" spec?

ie, does the cdx have bose/rear electric parcel shelf etc etc?

TIA :y

No Bose, no blind, no leather (normally), no memory function for seat, door mirrors & rear view mirror, no autodim mirror. No S/levelling. All easily retrofitted with the exception of mirror memory & S/L. Bose is a bit of a challenge but do-able

I never understood some folks devotion too "Bose"  :-\

Imho, you can get a much better sound in a saloon by replacing some of the standard hifi with some tastefull upgrades  :-\

Not too bad then!  Mirror memory not too bothered or the BOSE. Would like the rear blind, memory seats, auto dim mirror and s/levelling would be nice though.

Rough estimate, what would the parts cost to do that Rob?

Cheers mate :y

I'm not that fussed with the bose, if its there great if not, no worries. I do prefer to keep the original equipment fitted though rather than aftermarket kit, even if that is better! ::)

I much prefer BOSE just because I couldn't bear to look at an aftermarket stereo poking out of the dash.

Rear blind & shelf around £45
Memory seats if leather £100-150
Photochromatic mirror around £20
S/L suspension.............don`t wanna go down that route Dave. Shocks, springs, airlines, compressor, level sensor, ECU, wiring :-X

Trying to weigh whether to settle for the CDX or wait til the "right" elite becomes affordable, before my estate joins her new family :-\

When it becomes affordable, will it be "right"

No idea :(

I've got my eye on 2 elites 1 CDX and 1 special.

One elite ticks all the boxes bar the engine. Was hoping to get a 3.2 but this is a 2.6.  One reason why I was asking if there was much in it between the two engines in the real world... ???

Precisely. For the factory fit look, Bose is the best it gets.

Virtually everything aftermarket just looks chavtastic.

I know what you mean.

My shed is a pre facelift with a 10 year old kenwood minidisc player in there so no rather flashing lights.

Upgraded all the speakers ( Infinity refrence components ) so it sounds great  :y

Looks like I might have a problem if I ever upgrade the mig to a facelift model  :-\

If you want the 3.2 Elite then just wait for the right one to come up - and it will come up - otherwise you will never be happy with it - and as for bose I can only say that I still miss the standard bose stereo that was in my last Elite, was a brilliant sound and the stereo in my new car just doesn't even compare.
